The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands among the verdant hills of Strmec, not far from Veliko Trgovišće. It was built in 1772 in the late baroque style. Over the years, the chapel has been renovated both inside and outside. The last renovations occurred in 1998, when the tower was covered in copper and in 1999, when the chapel received a new coat of paint. In 2004, the chapel received new roofing tiles, and in 2008, new windows, stained glass, altar stone and ambo where biblical texts and sermons are read were installed. The chapel was unfortunately damaged in an earthquake in December 2020, when the roof and bell tower were badly damaged.

The chapel is dominated by a bell tower above the main entrance, which is 37 metres in height. The yellow-white facade perfectly blends into the environment, and the beautiful stained glass captivates the congregation with its colours. The building is 18.5 metres in length and 8 metres in width.

The Blessed Virgin Mary in Strmec has been worshipped due to her miracles since 1696. In the central chapel niche is a wooden statue 110 cm in height of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Strmec with child on her left forearm while she holds an apple in her right hand. Both sculptures have baroque crowns on their heads, while the rich cape of the Virgin Mary indicates that this is a Gothic sculpture made between 1440 and 1460. To the sides of the chapel, one can find the wooden baroque statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.

Below the chapel lies the local cemetery where parishioners from nearby villages are buried.
